Kell Brook celebrated the defining night of his career so far on Saturday night as the polite Yorkshireman enter the lion’s den at the StubHub Center in California and dethroned unbeaten world champion Shawn Porter.

The 28 year-old picked up the IBF welterweight title in fine style by using superior tactics on the inside to smother Porter’s work, whilst getting his own off crisper punches off on the outside in the process.

‘The Special One’ certainly lived up to his nickname with a stellar performance and with the win has duly cracked the WBN Pound for Pound Top 50 for the first time.

Brook sits at number 45 in the new list of the best fighters on the planet published today, whilst defeated opponent Porter has dropped back to 59 in suffering his maiden loss in 26 professional bouts.

Anthony Dirrell’s triumph over Sakio Bika saw the American make moves towards the Top 50, although ‘The Dog’ just missed out and lies in 52nd behind ex-world title holder Jean Pascal.

Omar Figueroa is also closer, on the back of another successful defense of his WBC lightweight belt, but is now moving up and could appear on the list with a big victory at 140lbs.

Floyd Mayweather in the top position which he has now held for almost three years.
