Olympic gold medallist Luke Campbell easily took care of opponent Steve Trumble on his US debut as the talented Hull lightweight took out the journeyman in two rounds. The 26 year-old southpaw moves on to 7-0 with a fifth stoppage and onto a considerably tougher outing in his hometown on October 25.
Fellow-Brit Callum Smith followed suit with an equally impressive first round demolition of Abraham Hernandez which came at the very end of the opening session. The win represents a thirteenth straight for unbeaten Smith, 24, as the Liverpudlian recorded a tenth inside schedule to build on his career-best win over Vladine Biosse in July.
Also on the bill, heavyweight Dominic Breazeale made it eleven knockouts from 12 wins with a second round triumph over Billy Zumbrun, whilst Fabian Maidana, younger brother of Marcos, is now two from two as a pro following a first round stoppage victory over Philip Soriano. Maidana is being tipped to follow in his siblings footsteps and already holds the nickname ‘TNT’ as he makes early waves in the paid ranks.
Welterweight Alan Sanchez got in on the knockout action himself by halting Jose Luis Ramirez Jr in three rounds to move to 14-3-1 with an eighth stoppage.
