Live scorecards on WBN tonight: Danny Garcia v Rod Salka

Phil Jay 09/08/2014

WBN will be scoring live on site tonight as light-welterweight world champion Danny Garcia participates in a ten round non-title contest against Rod Salka in Brooklyn.

The pound for pound star fights little-known Salka at a catchweight of 142lbs at the Barclays Center and needs to shine in order to stay in the hunt for a shot at Floyd Mayweather in 2015.

Also on the New York bill, IBF 140lb title holder Lamont Peterson puts his belt up for grabs against Puerto Rican Edgar Santana as a potential clash with Garcia hangs in the balance.

If both champions can win their respective bouts, they could meet in a three-belt unification in December or January, after which the winner could be cosidered as a possible Mayweather foe next spring.

The final part of the Golden Boy triple-header sees cancer survivor Danny Jacobs tackle rugged Aussie Jarrod Fletcher for the vacant WBA middlewweight championship.

Whomever comes out on top will then be the understudy to ‘super’ belt holder Gennady Golovkin and will be in the mix to fight the big-hitting Kazakh in his next defense.
