Maidana confident Mayweather victory is within reach

Maidana, 31, proved in May that can get through Mayweather’s defensive style more than most, and gets the chance this fall to overturn his majority decision defeat to the ‘Money’ man in Las Vegas.

“I’m well prepared, I’ll do my job and I know I can win. I’m waiting patiently for the date to come. We are sure that everything will be fine, ” said Maidana.

“I know I have a absolutely great chance for victory. It will be very difficult as it was the first fight, but I’ll get to the fight well prepared to win. I have received great support from the fans, so I have an absolute commitment to them.”

Veteran Mayweather has been riding high at the top of the WBN P4P ratings since September 2011 following the 37 year-old’s stoppage win over Victor Ortiz. That triumph came on the back of a lengthy absence, but Mayweather has been in predictably sensational form over a three-year period.

The September 13 return between Mayweather and Maidana, entitled ‘Mayhem,’ is only the second time the 147 and 154lb king has handed out a rematch, with the other being his double duel with Jose Luis Castillo. Many are of the belief that Castillo actually handed Mayweather a first defeat over a decade ago, and still do to this day as the debate rumbles on.

Mayweather has pushed his record to a formidable 46-0 in a career spanning almost twenty years and has the chance to defend both the WBC welterweight and light-middleweight titles on the night, the first fighter to defend two-weight titles since Sugar Ray Leonard in 1988.
