Macklin: Moore in hospital following shooting, doctors say no lasting damage

Matthew Macklin has given an update on current trainer and former opponent Jamie Moore stating that he is not in serious condition following a shooting incident in Marbella.

“Just to let everyone know Jamie Moore is still in hospital but he’s ok. He was shot in his legs but the doctors have said there shouldn’t be any serious or permanent damage done,” said Macklin as boxing remains in shock at the manner of Moore’s hopitalization.

The 32 year-old, who fought a ten-round war with Moore in 2006, has been enjoying a new working relationship with the ex-fighter from Salford at his successful gym in the Spanish city. Moore had been based with Macklin at the MGM Gym whilst preparing the two-time world title challenger for his August 30 return in Dublin against Jorge Heiland, but now faces a spell on the sidelines whilst he recovers.

The likeable TV pundit, who appears as a regular on Sky Sports since hanging up his gloves in 2010, has been inundated with well wishes from the boxing world, including concerns from good friend Ricky Hatton.

All at WBN would like to add to that and hope Jamie is back to full fitness as soon as possible.
