Steve Martin v Graham Earl set for Malta on August 22

Vaughan Boxing 31/07/2014

Coming up at the Hilton Hotel Grandmasters Suite on August 22, Vaughan Boxing presents an evening of World Championship Boxing which is headlined by a welterweight contest between Steve Martin and Graham Earl.

Martin, 27, will become the first full Maltese fighter living in the country to challenge for a version of the world championship at welterweight. ‘Super’ Steve will face former British and Commonwealth champion Earl, who hails from the UK, for the vacant World Boxing Foundation title after the Luton man recently went the distance with Australian hardman Michaell Katsidis.

In the build-up to what is expected to be a highly entertaining contest, Martin will be getting some quality sparring in his home country from talented Briton’s Derry Mathews and Darren Hamilton.

Also on the bill, Tyrone Borg will continue his professional career in a six-round contest light heavyweight contest against an opponent to be named soon, whilst former world Mui Thai world champion Marlon Hunt will make his professional boxing debut at 175lbs against Remo Arns, which will also be over six rounds.

As always, there will be an undercard of semi-pro boxing to enjoy with a host of local boxers taking their places at the event.

The August 22 card entitled ‘Casino Royale’ is sponsored by Remax Malta and is licensed by the Malta Boxing Commission. You can reach the ticket hotline at 9906 2863/99672300 or visit vaughanboxing.tv for more details.
