Briggs enters the ring with Klitschko, Moorer forced to intervene

The moment Shannon Briggs once again attempted to goad heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko into fighting him was caught on tape on Tuesday as the pair butted heads in Florida.

Klitschko, 37, was in the ring shadow boxing when Briggs stormed into the gym during an open day, and after talking up his chances of beating the Ukrainian, decided to step in himself and circle around world number one.

Less serious banter began, although didn’t last long, and Briggs ended up almost nose-to-nose with Klitschko as the moment threatened to get ugly. It was down to former heavyweight title holder Michael Moorer to intervene as 42 year-old Briggs stepped up his taunting to Klitschkp as ‘The Cannon’ was ushered out of the gym.

Ex-WBO belt holder Briggs is hell-bent on being given his opportunity to fight Klitschko, although ‘Dr. Steelhammer’ looks less than impressed with the American’s antics and already has a dangerous fighter to deal with against Kubrat Pulev in September.

Goading has worked in the past to get Klitschko to fight as Briton David Haye showed five years ago, but the ‘Hayemaker’ was the WBA title holder at the time and Briggs, who is on a four-fight winnnig streak, still has work to do to earn his chance.
