The 25 year-old was let down twice by David Haye in the past year when heading for a big pay-day, and with just days to go until his British and European title fight with Dereck Chisora, the unthinkable happened again.
Alexander Ustinov has stepped in to save the day and give Fury a credible opponent. However, the outspoken former Irish champion gave the Belarussian little kudos for his trouble went the pair met for the first time.
Fury began his statement pretty tame by his standards in saying: “I’m pretty sure there is a conspiracy theory going on behind all this, but listen, it is as it is,” he said. “I don’t let people down.
“I fight. People would have got a journeyman to step in on Saturday night, somebody sh**. I don’t do that. I’ve got a man here that’s had 30 fights and lost one.
“Credit to him for stepping in at short notice. He’s been in the gym sparring, but then again, so have I. It’s going to be a Clash of the Titans, and may the best man win.”
But once a member of the media mentioned Chisora, Fury launched a tirade of choice words, and promoter Frank Warren was clearly taken aback.
“As far as I am concerned, Dereck Chisora is history. He’s finished,” said Fury. “After I’ve done with this lummox in front of me here, I want Bermane Stiverne for the WBC title. I am not interested in Dereck Chisora. He hasn’t got enough credibility to lace my boots, never mind step in the same ring. He’s a sh**house. He dropped his bollocks in training, and now this big lummox has had to step in and take his place.
“This lad here (Ustinov) may be a giant, but when I land a big detonator on his big swelled head, he’s going to go down, and he is going to stay down. He is a sh**house. Did you see the fight against Pulev? He’s getting knocked clean out!
“Don’t be surprised if he goes down in one or two rounds. I am coming out firing, swinging bombs, and if he can land one on me, credit to him, but I’ve got balls like King Kong, and I’m knocking him spark out. How’s that?
“I don’t even need a training camp to fight these heavyweights out there. Most of them are sh**. They’re w**k, and I’ll fight them on one day’s notice. I’ll show you what I am gonna do to this d***head on Saturday night. They will be carrying him back to Russia on a stretcher!”
Ustinov took it in his stride and responded quietly through his translator by saying that he has big respect’ for Fury on the contest’s eve.
