Matthysse set to face Perez on September 6, Broner and Berto slated to co-feature

The 31 year-old, who has stopped 33 of 35 opponents toppled, is slated to co-feature at the US Bank Arena in Cincinatti, Ohio against the former lightweight from Newark – alongside ex-world champions Adrien Broner and Andre Berto.

Matthysse is aiming to get back in the world title mix at 140lbs after his credible points defeat to unified belt holder Danny Garcia in 2013, which many would say deserved an immediate rematch.

Perez, 24, has lost just once in his 23 outings since turning pro back in 2008 and recently overcame Jorge Romero in Puerto Rico convincingly over ten rounds.

With potential future opponent Broner also lined up to participate on the fall card, talk will obviously turn to a massive clash between the two which could be possible by the end of the year if both are victorious.

Broner, 24, is still in the hunt for an opponent for what will be his 31st career contest, with Paul Spadafora, Johan Perez and Maurcio Herrera all being mentioned to oppose ‘The Problem’ in his home city.

Rounding off the triple-header as it stands will be ex-world welterweight title holder Andre Berto, who will attempt to recover from three defeats in his last four bouts against a foe yet to be named.
