Chisora was due to rematch Tyson Fury three years on from their first meeting in a bout that initially had considerable interest Stateside. Following the main event’s collapse, AWE will not be televising the rest of the bill topped by Billy Joe Saunders and have instead decided to cancel the whole scheduled programme for Saturday afternoon (US time).
In a statement released in the wake of Chisora’s injury, AWE confirmed: Due to a fractured hand injury suffered by Dereck Chisora, This Saturday’s Heavyweight elimination bout between Chisora and Tyson Fury has been postponed.
The conference call that was scheduled for this Wednesday has also been cancelled. The card, which was to be televised by AWE- A Wealth of Entertainment, will not be shown.
AWE President Robert Herrin added his thought by saying: “We are truly disappointed that the fight will not happen on Saturday. Ever since we made the announcement of the fight last week, we had received tremendous feedback and response and we know we would have had a large audience watching on AWE. We hope to have an announcement very shortly concerning the re-schedule date.”
