Canelo Alvarez arrest warrant reportedly exercised in Jalisco

A year ago, the warrant initially got thrown out. Although WBN has obtained a copy of the documents that suggest Canelo and his brother Juan Roman Alvarez are sought for an alleged attack in Guadalajara.

Alvarez, 24, along with his sibling, is accused of being part of an assault on former world light-flyweight champion Ulises Solis on October 21, 2011.

The alleged altercation happened at a park where ‘Archie’ suffered a double fracture to his jaw and lost a tooth.

Solis has only fought twice since the incident, losing his last bout to Edgar Sosa via stoppage in the second round. He has stated in the media that his career has never been the same since the attack.

The 32-year-old continues to push the matter legally, and this latest ruling may well harm Canelo’s career – if followed up.

CANELO ARREST

Canelo’s lawyers are said to be handling the situation with the Mexican authorities. However, the matter is still up in the air, and possible criminal proceedings hang over the former WBC and WBA title-holder until the situation gets formally resolved.

A Pay Per View win over Erislandy Lara recently moved Canelo closer to a shot at regaining his belts at the end of the year.
