Schaefer, who has been linked to a position with Mayweather’s own company, The Money Team, surprised the pound for pound champion as he sat around the media table and quickly earned praise for his trouble.
Mayweather called Schaefer ‘The Real Man of Golden Boy’ after the former Swiss banker’s bitter split with Oscar De La Hoya and was clearly delighted to hook up with his long-time collegue.
Having kept a low profile since placing himself without job, Schaefer seemed intent on declaring that he is avaiable and ready for action after a few weeks considering his future.
De La Hoya himself was never scheduled to appear at any of the media events having pre-booked a vacation before the fight was announced.
