Contracts yet to be signed as Selby v Brunker is agreed for October 11

The International Boxing Federation announced the contest earlier this year and both sides were immediately keen to begin negotiations that have led to an agreement to stage the fight in Britain.

Selby will obviously be favourite as he is handed home advantage, although Brunker, 28, is yet to taste defeat in 27 bouts and scored an impressive win over Mike Oliver in the US last August.

Nicknamed ‘The Welsh Mayweather,’ 27 year-old Selby has worked his way up to being classed as the best featherweight in his home country with wins over the likes of Stephen Smith and Rendall Munroe, with many believing the Barry fighter has what it takes to become world champion.

Brunker’s promoter Adama Wilcock informed WBN that the only thing left to do is exchange contracts with Selby’s representatives at Matchroom for the clash, although that is expected to be a mere formality.

The talented pair wil be fighting for the right to challenge current title holder Evgeny Gradovich, who recently retained his belt against Alexander Miskirtchian to remain unbeaten.
