Light-welterweight Steve Martin aims to pick up the vacant WBF International title this Friday night when the Malta-based fighter takes on Hungarian Laszlo Jambrik at the Ex Triad Fairgrounds in his native country.
The 27 year-old faces off against Jambrik over ten rounds in a bout licensed by the Malta Boxing Commission’s secretary Mark James as Martin bids to improve on his record of seven stoppages from eight wins, with one draw and four defeats.
Those losses all came earlier in his career and Martin has since put together a run of six knockouts from his last seven bouts. Jambrik meanwhile halted David Keskeny in one round in the previous outing in April.
Demis Tonna Prize Boxing Promotions and Vaughan Boxing present the card entitled ‘Rock Solid,’ which also features Malta’s Tyrone Borg against Jambrik’s compatriot Szabolcs Pintye in a six-round cruiserweight contest.
There will also be an extensive semi-professional undercard for the event on the night, which will be staged out-doors in Naxxar and has already sold over 1500 tickets for what will be an exciting few hours of action.
