World middleweight title challenger Jarrod Fletcher is expecting an interesting fight when possible future opponent Martin Murray and old foe Max Bursak share the ring in Monte Carlo tonight.
Fletcher recently defeated Bursak against the odds to claim his upcoming WBA title clash with Danny Jacobs and was due to fight Murray before the Briton was stripped of his ranking by the association.
Murray and Bursak are now set to fight for the WBC silver strap at 160lbs and Fletcher is willing to fight either if he comes through American Jacobs and claims the first world title of his career in the autumn.
“I think it will be an interesting fight and I would be happy to fight either,” Fletcher told World Boxing News.
“I think it will be a close fight, but I will lean towards Bursak getting the win. I really don’t know how this fight is going to pan out, but I’m hoping that Bursak wins, only because off the way things went down leading into my proposed fight with Murray – which didn’t happen.
“Bursak was a replacement and he gave me a very tough fight. I think he will do the same with Murray and I hope he gets the win. I think that Bursak will have to apply a lot of pressure
on Murray and outwork him. If he stays out long with Murray he will get outboxed, easily.
“But styles make fights so it will be interesting. If Murray does happen to win, hopefully we will get to face off soon,” he added.
Meanwhile, the vacant WBA title bout involving Fletcher and the rejuvenated Jacobs has been confirmed by Golden Boy Promotions for the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on August 9.
