Jean Pascal in talks with Tavoris Cloud for September 27

Pascal, 31, is aiming to build in his impressive win over one-time super-middleweight ruler Lucian Bute at the Bell Centre in January and push on towards another world title opportunity early next year.

“Jean’s return is schedule for September 27 at the Montreal Bell Centre,” Michel told World Boxing News. “We are presently in negotiations with Tavoris Cloud.”

The Haitian-born Canadian is currently ranked number one by the WBC to Adonis Stevenson’s 175lb title, but seemingly wants to build on his three straight victories before committing to a high-profile match-up against his compatriot.

Stevenson is being strongly-linked to a unification with Bernard Hopkins around the same time as Pascal’s next bout, so that could potentially set up a semi-final – with the two victors meeting in the spring of 2015.

Potential opponent Cloud was beaten in seven rounds by Stevenson in his last outing in September and Pascal will want to make a statement of his own against the 32 year-old if discussions can be concluded in the coming weeks.
