Famed trainer Nacho Beristain has made a sufficient enough recovery from his week-long hospital stay to return to his usual position in the corner for his team of fighters.
Hall of Famer Beristain, who is approaching his 75th birthday, will be by the side of super-bantamweight prospect Rey Vargas as the 23 year-old Mexican takes on Vergel Nebran at the Explanada Municipal in Tlalnepantla.
Talented Vargas will be defending – not only his perfect 19-fight record against the Filipino on Satuday night, but the WBC Youth silver title his picked up in October 2013 with victory over Yuki Murai in Toluca.
The youngster will now have his experienced coach giving him instructions after Beristain came back fighting from a sudden illness that struck him down two weeks ago. Beristain has been resting at home recently following his spell under doctors supervision, but now hopes to get the green light to begin working once again at his world renowned Romanza Gym in the next few days.
Some of the fighters who have fought under Beristain’s guidance in the past and present include, welterweight legend Juan Manuel Marquez, Abner Mares and ten-time world champion Oscar De La Hoya.
