British Board put McDonnell v Dickens and Stalker v Jenkins out to bids

In the latest circular released by the British Boxing Board of Control, two tasty-looking match-ups have been put out to purse bids to be submitted by the respective promoters by July 9th.

A British light-welterweight title eliminator between former GB amateur star Thomas Stalker and Prizefighter champion Chris Jenkins, coupled with a clash between Lonsdale Belt holder at super-bantamweight, Gavin McDonnell and James ‘Jazza’ Dickens are the standout bouts on the list.

Stalker, 29, and 25 year-old Jenkins are both undefeated since entering the paid ranks over the past couple of years and would represent a mouth-watering encounter so early on in their careers.

Fresh from his draw with Josh Wale, McDonnell, 28, is potentially pitted against up and coming 25 year-old Jazza Dickens, who previously lost out to Kid Galahad in an entertaining battle almost a year ago.

If both fights can be made, it would be a triumph for British boxing as four hungry contenders, with all the talent to go far in the sport, would be fighting it out for the biggest prize on offer domestically and it will be interesting to see what happens prior to next month’s deadline.

Other British title eliminators put forward are a heavyweight bout between Gary Cornish and Sam Sexton, lightweight match-up Scott Cardle v Kirk Goodings, plus a 154lb encounter seeing Kris Carslaw and Jason Welborn collide.
