Andy Lee earns massive KO after being dropped in the first

Dropping down to 154lbs from a run at middleweight, Lee was put on his backside hard in the very first round and seemed to struggle with the pressure applied by Jackson early on.

After four rounds, the 29 year-old was already behind on the cards and was rocked again in the fifth – before unleashing a massive counter shot that put Jackson’s lights out before he hit the ground.

Questions are still certain to be asked of Lee regarding his move down to light-middleweight as he looked weak at some points in the fight, but nobody could argue with the finish, which is a shoo-in to be on the KO of the Year lists.

On the bill, Argentinian Javier Maciel engaged in an entertaining ten-rounder with Jorge Melendez in about that largely hinged on an action-packed fourth round.

Melendez was dropped and deducted a point in the session. It ultimately cost him the fight with a 10-7 swing.

Upon completing the contest, the judges’ scores read 97-91, 96-94, 94-94 to hand Maciel the victory by a majority.

Wilfredo Vazquez Jr lost out to Marvin Sonsona in a clash for the vacant NABF featherweight title in the co-feature.

Sonsona put Vazquez on the canvas in the first round before seeing a 96-92 (twice), 92-96 split decision.
