Argentinian Juan Carlos Reveco made a successful fourth defence of his WBA flyweight title by out-pointing Felix Alvarado at the Villa Nata Sporting Club in Benavidez, Buenos Aires on Friday night.
The talented 30 year-old engaged in all-out warfare with the Nicaraguan for the duration of the contest, but ultimately had the edge over Alvarado to retain his belt in front of his adoring fans.
Reveco was handed the victory 115-110, 115-112 and 112-109 on the judges scorecards to inflict a second straight defeat on Alvarado, who has now has a record of 18 wins and those two solitary losses.
With the win, ‘Coton’ improves to 34-1, with 18 KO’s and could now seek out a unification bout in what is a talent-laden division at 112lbs, with Juan Estrada the current number one at the weight.
Also on the bill, middleweight Jorge Heiland elevated his record to 23-4-2 with his eleventh career stoppage by halting Cesar Reynoso in the fifth round.
The southpaw, 27, has come back impressively after suffering his fourth defeat against Mateo Veron in June of last year, by firstly stopping world title prospect Billy Godoy in the twelfth and final round last November, before scoring this latest win over Reynoso.
