Carl Froch: My legacy and career are hanging by a thread on May 31

The 36-year-old, who has fought the best in the world at 168lbs for the past five and half years, participated in a public workout on Monday in his hometown of Nottingham and insisted that he will put on a show at Wembley Stadium.

“I’ve locked myself away from three months and way from my beautiful family for one reason,” said Froch. “And that is to give the fans what they want to see – the best Carl Froch.

“I am going to put on one hell of a display at Wembley Stadium, so just sit back and enjoy the ride as it’s going to be a good one.”

Froch scored a controversial ninth-round stoppage over Groves last November, prompting calls for the two British rivals to go at it again, with the unified world title-holder admitting that it’s all or nothing for him this weekend.

“My whole career, the whole twelve years and winning world titles, defending world titles, and having 13 or 14 world title fights back to back, which is unprecedented – hangs by a thread,” explained Froch.

“In terms of my legacy and whole career, it’s on the line, and I need to perform, and I need to win!

“That’s why I have been training harder and more than I have done for any single fight.”

With 80,000 fans ready to pack out Wembley to witness these two warriors go head-to-head for a second time, Froch is well aware of the significance of this contest and has vowed to come out victorious as he did six months ago.

“It’s the biggest British fight in boxing history, and Matchroom should be proud. Eddie Hearn is the reason this is happening. Myself and George Groves, we have all played our part, and now it’s up to us to go in there and put on an unbelievable display.

“I am ready to play my part and turn up for a formidable twelve rounds at pace, and if it needs to be brutal, it will be brutal because I’ll do what I need to do to win.”
