Arum: No Khan, Canelo talks for Pacquiao, Marquez number one choice

Arum was quoted recently as stating that Khan and Saul Alvarez had been considered for Pacquiao’s return in November, although the experienced promoter outlined that no discussions had taken place yet with his Golden Boy counterpart.

“I can say that there have been no talks regarding Khan or Canelo with Oscar, but perhaps Canelo is an opponent for next year,” Arum told World Boxing News.

Pacquiao has been linked to a fifth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez as both came through their respective spring bouts against Timothy Bradley and Mike Alvarado unscathed, with Arum now focusing his efforts on pitting the long-time rivals together yet again in Macau.

“For now, the fight I want to make more than any other is Pacquiao v Marquez 5,” confirmed Arum.

In their four previous clashes, Pacquiao has gained two debatable decisions, whilst the two have also fought out a draw and memorably Marquez stunned the Filipino with a crushing knockout in their last meeting.

Marquez has always been tentative about risking his recent win by handing Pacquiao the chance of redemption, but Arum knows there is money to be made in a fifth contest and will do all he can to make it happen.
