Toney eyes Chambers clash on Fury v Chisora 2 bill, Hughie Fury in future

Ex-world title challenger Chambers is known to be in the hunt for name heavyweight opponent for the July 26 event at Manchester’s Phones 4U Arena and Toney is hoping to negotiate with trainer Peter Fury, according to his agent Steve Tannenbaum.

“I am trying secure a fight for James Toney with Eddie Chambers as a proposed bout on the under-card of Fury vs Chisora for July 26th,” Tannenbaum exclusively told World Boxing News.

“As you know, Peter Fury is now training Chambers, but at the moment I don’t know whether he or his management team will green light this bout as Eddie has passed on Toney before.

“I also have offered Toney’s availability to fight Hughie Fury in the future and I am working on a September/October fight for Toney in Europe against another name fighter.”

Toney, 45, confirmed to WBN last week that he will continue fighting until he has made it to 100 professional contests, with his total currently 88 – with two no contests.

‘Lights Out’ reached the semi-finals of a specially organised UK v USA Prizefighter tournament on his last visit to the UK in November and now wants to make a swift return on Frank Warren’s summer blockbuster bill on BoxNation.
