John Riel Casimero comes in over 5lbs above limit, loses IBF title

Casimero, 24, was due to make the third defence of the belt he won in August 2012, but it’s apparent that ‘Quadro Alas’ has outgrown the division and a move to the 112lb flyweight class looks imminent.

IBF Chairman Linsdey Tucker had this to say on the matter: “I’m told that Casimero was over 113 pounds and the limit for Jr. Flyweights is 108 pounds.

“He lost the title on the scales and should Fuentes make weight again tomorrow and win the fight, he will be the next IBF Jr. Flyweight Champion. Should Casimero win, the title will be vacant.”

Colombian Fuentes participates in his first world title fight at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City, Philippines on Saturday night as he looks to extend his winning run stretching back thirteen fights to 2009.
