Ashley Theophane takes on Angino Perez on Mayweather v Maidana

Former British light-welterweight champion Ashley Theophane has notified WBN that his opponent for this Saturday night in Las Vegas will be Miami-based Angino Perez over eight rounds.

Theophane, 33, fights on the high-profile Floyd Mayweather v Marcos Maidana bill at the MGM Grand this weekend having defeated Robert Osiobe to get back to winning ways in December.

The last time ‘Treasure’ fought on a Mayweather undercard he lost out to Pablo Cesar Cano in a bruising battle last September, but will now hope to pick up a win against four-loss Perez.

Perez has won his last four fights by knockout since being defeating unanimously by Carlos Molina in March 2012, with the 30 year-old having stopped thirteen of his fifteen wins as a professional.

There will also be another UK fighter featuring on the card when Olympic bronze medallist Anthony Ogogo participates in an eight-rounder, although his opponent for what will be his Las Vegas debut is yet to be formally announced.

The 25 year-old Suffolk fighter was due to take his place on the same Mayweather v Canelo bill that Theophane featured on last year until a last minute injury ruled him out.
