Tony Thompson agrees to Paris fight with Carlos Takam on June 6

The 42 year-old, who has a reputation for upsetting fighters on their own turf, will once again hit the road, this time to face the France-based Cameroonian at the Palais des Sport Marcel Cerdan.

Thompson goes into the summer fight on the back of an eye-catching split decision win over hardened Cuban Odlanier Solis in Turkey last month and hopes to claim his 40th career victory on the night. ‘The Tiger’ was no stranger to competing in Europe even before the Solis bout as Thompson can also claim two victories over David Price in Liverpool, England recently.

Takam, 33, himself put in a career-best performance over ten rounds against potential future world champion Mike Perez at the Bell Centre in Canada last January and was unlucky to only come away with a draw on the undercard of Pascal v Bute.

It looks to be another tough night for Takam on paper against Thompson, although with just one defeat in 31 bouts and an unbeaten run stretching back to 2009, the ex-WBO Africa champion will go into the contest full of confidence.
