Shannon Briggs eyes Wladimir Kitschko following one-punch KO

This is following a second first round knockout in eight days for the 42 year-old as ‘The Cannon’ dropped Mexican Francisco Mireles with the first body shot he landed to end the fight.

The 27-second victory pushed Briggs’ record to 53-6-1, with 47 KO’s as the last American top division king looks to regain the title after returning from a four-year hiatus. Briggs is keeping busy after deciding to return following his one-sided loss to Vitali Klitsckho in 2010 and has the Ukrainian’s sibling in his sights.

Briggs was involved in a gym spat with Vitali’s younger brother in California recently in which the veteran hit Klitschko with a shoe – with the New Yorker now planning to ruffle a few more feathers next weekend in Oberhausen.

Meanwhile, Mireles dropped to 17-9 with his latest defeat.
