Echo Arena results: Mitchell scores TKO; Perkins out-points Ochieng; Davies Jnr

The 29 year-old had too much for Avakyan from the off and was even rocking the well-travelled 22 year-old with jabs. Referee Steve Gray called a halt to the contest in the second session following a third knockdown, saving Avakyan from further punishment.

Mitchell now moves on to a potential IBF title challenge against Miguel Vazquez on the undercard to the Carl Froch v George Groves rematch, with promoter Eddie Hearn hoping to confirm the clash next week.

Neil Perkins claimed the best win of his pro career with a 78-76 points win over former British title challenger Erick Ochieng. The ex-England amateur star seemed to have the fight won more comfortably than the referee’s final scorecard, but none the less, ‘Perko’ takes his unbeaten record to 6-0.

Earlier, light-welterweight prospect Robbie Davies Jnr pushed his record to 5-0 in routine fashion as the 24 year-old dominated Mark McKray 80-73.

Adam Ismail began the night in emphatic fashion by taking a four round victory over Duane Green 40-37 to keep undefeated record intact
