Former super-middleweight world champion Lucian Bute is currently taking a break from the sport in his birthplace of Romania after losing for a second time recently against compatriot Jean Pascal.
The 33 year-old, who once ruled as a major force at 168lbs, was soundly out-pointed at light-heavyweight by Pascal in a massive fight in his native Montreal and is set to meet with his team next month to thrash out what happens next.
“Lucian is presently in Romania, but he is returning at the beginning of March,” InterBox spokesman Ian Edery told World Boxing News on Wednesday.
“Once we sit down with Lucian we can see where we are at and the decide about what weight category will be the way forward.
“We have no date or site in mind yet as we have to speak with Lucian, but Jean Bedard will be discussing all the details upon his return to Montreal.”
WBN were exclusively informed by Bedard in the immediate aftermath of his fight with Pascal that Bute has no plans to retire following his latest defeat, with more set to become clear once the southpaw makes his own intentions known.
