As stated by Mauricio Herrera in an exclusive interview with on World Boxing News yesterday, he will challenge Garcia for his world titles on the bill, with heavyweight sensation Deontay Wilder co-featuring against fellow-American Malik Scott.
In a third bout on the card, former world title holders Daniel Ponce De Leon and Juan Manuel Lopez will collide in a Mexico v Puerto Rico rematch six years on from their first meeting at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Lopez, 30, was at the height of his powers as the WBO super-bantamweight champion when blasting out De Leon in just one round in 2008 and now gets the opportunity to repeat the feat on home soil at featherweight.
Schaefer also stated that those trio of clashes are the only fights confirmed for the mouth-watering bill as Garcia aims to keep his stranglehold on the division and Wilder looks to extend his amazing record of stopping fighters within four rounds.
‘The Bronze Bomber’ is 30 for 30 as a world title chance looms on the horizon, as Scott continues his efforts to come back from suffering his first loss at the hands of Briton Dereck Chisora in the UK last year.
