International Boxing Federation President Lindsey Tucker has revealed that Rocky Fuentes will battle Amnat Ruenroeng on Wednesday following former champion Moruti Mthalane’s decision to vacate the flyweight title.
Mthalane pulled out of the fight last week after previously being scheduled to fight Ruenroeng in Thailand and number four rated Fuentes has now been drafted in to replace the South African.
The fight will take place in Nakhon Ratchasima and whomever comes out on top will be celebrating a first career world title win when picking up the coveted IBF belt.
Ruenroeng, 34,has racked up eleven wins since entering the professional ranks late in his athletic career just under two years ago, whilst 27 year-old Fuentes has been knocking on the door throughout his 43 contests without success.
The Filipino is undefeated since 2008, having stopped 20 of his 35 wins, and out-pointed Juan Kantun on home soil last April to cement his place in the rankings.
