Gennady Golovkin on course for WBN Fighter of the Year award

Middleweight king Gennady Golovkin looks a sure-fire bet to claim the WBN Fighter of the Year crown for 2013 after acquiring over 80% of the thousands of votes so far cast by readers of the website.

The award, the only one that is decided by the fans, was won by Carl Froch in 2012 with a slim 21% total, although Golovkin looks impossible to catch with still over two weeks left of voting.

The nearest challenger is current WBC light-heavyweight title holder Adonis Stevenson with a mere 8%, with Golovkin’s nomination already making headlines in his native Kazakhstan.
