GBP to announce title fight shake-up involving Alexander and Broner

Rumours began circling following a media release from GBP that a conference call would be held prior to Bernard Hopkins’ title defence against Karo Murat where CEO Richard Schaefer will now clarify the full details of the reshuffle.

In a nutshell, Broner v Maidana will drop from PPV and head from the MGM Grand to San Antonio on the same night of December 14, whilst Alexander’s IBF welterweight title bout with Shawn Porter will now be moved forward.

Leo Santa Cruz v Cesar Seda, another world title fight that was scheduled for November 30, will also move to the undercard of either the December 7 Barclay’s Center bill a week later or to the Broner v Maidana event.

More details will be further revealed by Golden Boy Promotions later tonight, including the possible addition of another world title fight involving WBC super-middleweight title holder Sakio Bika and top contender Anthony Dirrell, plus returning former world champion Victor Ortiz.
