Box Office Promotions have confirmed that former world cruiserweight title challenger Bruce Scott will now face Liam Bates on October 12 after original opponent Umar Kemilainen pulled out sick.
Alfie Warren, co-promoter of the event, told World Boxing News today that Bates would be stepping in to headline their ‘Oktoberfist’ event against Scott at the Troxy next month as the latter makes his return to the ring following four years away.
“On behalf on Box Office Promotions, I’m pleased to announce that unbeaten Liam Bates will be competing against Former British and Commonwealth Cruiserweight Champion Bruce Scott on our action packed card Oktoberfist on October 12th at The Troxy, London,” said Warren.
“After the disappointment of the withdrawal of Bruce’s original opponent Umar Kemilainen, who has been struck down with illness, we are delighted to have fan favourite Bates on board for this bout.
“Liam has expressed his excitement at fighting Bruce and cannot wait to get in there and make a statement. He is not coming to make up the numbers, that is for sure. We would like to thank Liam and his team for agreeing to make this fantastic fight happen.
