The judge even had the audacity to come out in defense of her night’s work, for which Ross was paid thousands of dollars, a move which probably, in the end, made her position within the sport untenable.
In my view especially, Mayweather won every round, something that plenty of others, including ESPN’s Dan Rafael and Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports, agreed with. This reasoning is why there was so much outrage at yet another incompetent decision by a supposedly professional judge.
According to the LA times, Nevada State Athletic Commission chairman Bill Brady stated that Ross informed him she will be ‘taking some time off from boxing but will stay in touch,’ without eluding to when and if she will return at all to her ringside post.
Pound-for-pound king Mayweather was clearly disgusted at the decision of Ross when awaiting the result in the ring – after being robbed of a clear unanimous decision that will forever be etched on his record.
Scores of 117-111 and 116-112 still don’t do the American’s performance any justice, as Mayweather displayed one of the most comprehensive victories over a talented and highly-rated champion in recent memory.
