Former world light-heavyweight champion Jean Pascal aims to stay busy with a ten-rounder against American veteran George Blades on the undercard of Adonis Stevenson versus Tavoris Cloud later this month.
Pascal, 30, is pencilled in for a huge Canadian battle with another ex-world title holder in Lucian Bute in early 2014, but now features on what is compatriot Stevenson’s first defence of the crown he ripped away from Chad Dawson.
39 year-old Blades, known as ‘Honey Boy,’ has lost four of his 27 contests, although can punch a bit as his 16 stoppages would suggest and will see a victory over world-level operator Pascal as his ticket to the big time.
Also on the September 28 card, Colombian Eleider ‘Storm’ Alvarez will look to extend his undefeated run in the pro ranks against compatriot and former world title challenger Edison Miranda when the two meet over ten rounds.
Alvarez has impressed most in building an 12-0 record so far with eight wins by knockout, having beaten the likes of Shawn Hawk, Danny McIntosh and Nicholson Poulard in the past two years.
32 year-old Miranda will be hoping he can stop the rot that has recently set into the twilight of his career that has seen the veteran lose five of his last seven outings and drop to 35-8 overall.
