Narvaez retains WBO super-flyweight title for an eighth time against Hisataka
Two-weight world champion Omar Narvaez made the 24th successful world title defence of his career with a tenth round stoppage victory over Hiroyuki Hisataka in Chubut, Argentina on Saturday night.
The 38 year-old, who has lost just once when moving up in weight to face Nonito Donaire in 2011, recorded his 40th win in a fight that he was never in any danger of losing to the ten-loss Japanese challenger.
Hisatake struggled with the strength of Narvaez throughout the fight and only glimpses in the fourth round had the Argentinian in a hint of trouble as the veteran came back strong from the fifth onwards.
Narvaez had Hisataka, 28,covering up in every round from then on, before ending the contest with a flurry of punches in the tenth to cement his standing as one of the best super-flyweights of recent years.
