Olympic gold medallist Anthony Joshua MBE is finally set to enter the paid ranks after it was confirmed that the Watford man had officially left the GB amateur set-up after months of continued speculation.
The 23-year-old, who scored a famous triumph in London at 91+kg, had been linked with moves to Golden Boy Promotions and Khan Promotions previously.
However, it now seems the hot prospect will move to Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom stable.
Joshua was rubbing shoulders with GBP and Khan representatives at the recent Amir Khan clash with Julio Diaz.
Still, it seems that the pull of Matchroom and Sky was too much incentive for the heavyweight. An announcement could happen as early as tomorrow.
The move, once confirmed, follows in the footsteps of fellow Olympians Luke Campbell and Thomas Stalker.
Both have already enjoyed early success with Hearn and his growing Essex boxing empire.
A debut could be confirmed for the new season in September or October, with a busy few months following.
The 2012 champion will be instantly thrust into an already bustling UK heavyweight scene. Alongside David Price, Tyson Fury, David Haye, and Dereck Chisora.
