Returning welterweight Kell Brook is looking to snag himself a boxing superstar this coming September by calling out multi-weight champion ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley for an autumn showdown.
Brook, 27, faces American Carson Jones next month in a rematch after missing out on a world title clash with Devon Alexander last month through injury and then hopes to get back in the picture at the top of the division against Mosley.
41 year-old Mosley is back in some sort of form after successfully negotiating his way past Pablo Cesar Cano in Mexico to score a first win in over four years, and is known to be open to offers for his return to US shores later in the year.
A veteran in the ilk of Mosley against a young lion like Brook would have some appeal, especially in the UK, and would be an ideal way for the latter to reintroduce himself to the Stateside fight fans in preparation for another world title shot.
‘The Special One’ has long been linked to a fight against fellow Brit Amir Khan after years of needle between the two, with a high-profile win much sought after for Brook to edge him closer to a domestic super-fight with the former 140lb world title holder.
