After some confusion, Sanchez was ruled to have been just over the official 115lb limit and is now unable to leave the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Nevada with the belt he has possessed since Februay 2012.
The 22 year-old southpaw may now consider a move up to bantamweight, win or lose against 24-0 Sosa, who is obviously still able to claim the title having successfully manoeuvred the weigh-in on Friday.
Argentinian Sosa, 28, participates in his first world title challenge on the night and may now go into the contest as slight favourite due to the champion’s struggles at hitting the limit.
