Huck v Afolabi: 36 rounds boxed, 1035-1017 on the cards

Despite showing once more that there is little to choose between him and ‘Cap’n Huck,’ Afolabi didn’t go that extra mile needed to take a title away from a home fighter in his own backyard and dropped a third career defeat in the process.

An entertaining defeat and draw had initially earned Afolabi another shot at Huck’s title, although the US-based bruiser was out-foxed by Huck in the tighter rounds as he clung to his title belt with a majority decision.

Judges at ringside who had the bout there or thereabouts carded 115-113 and 114-114 respectively, with a third handing in a 117-111 sheet in favour of Huck – which did an injustice to the efforts put in by Afolabi over the course of the contest.

Having fought 36 rounds against each other, Huck has now won by a combined total of 1035-1017, meaning a fourth outing looks unlikely to happen after the German retained his championship for the eleventh time.
