Stalker set for fourth pro outing on Coldwell show this Friday

Commonwealth gold medallist Thomas Stalker gets a fourth pro run out this Friday night at the Olympia in his hometown of Liverpool as the talented fighter takes on Romanian youngster Oszkar Fiko.

The 28 year-old is certainly in a rush since entertaining the paid ranks on the back of his disappointment at London 2012. Stalker wasted no time in signing with Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn and has dispatched his first three opponents with minimal fuss since his debut in February.

‘The Captain’ has already participated in his first six-rounder at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens last time out against Gyorgi Mizsei Jr. and is yet to lose a single round in the early stages of his promising career.

Opponent Fiko, 19, made a similar start to his stint in the sport until venturing out of his own country and has lost three of his last four bouts, including one to Cromer’s unbeaten Ryan Walsh in March.

Having been stopped twice already, predominant lightweight Fiko should present Stalker with the ideal opportunity to score his first knockout win – in what is the experienced amateur’s second fight on his own turf.

Respected boxing man David Coldwell is promoting the ‘New Kids on the Dock’ show, which is also set to feature a host of undefeated prospects and debutants in what promises to be yet another exciting show laid on by the former fighter.

Coldwell has built a reputation with eager fight fans as one of the most flamboyant show makers out there and regularly receives praise for his matchmaking and entertainment value with the masses on social media sites.

Plenty of North-west talent will be on show, including Andy Colquhoun (6-0), Sean Dodd (5-0) and Sean Lewis (4-0). Debutants Robbie Davies Jnr, Steve Jones Jnr and Paul Riley will begin their professional journeys, whilst Sheffield’s Rod Smith (2-0) makes the trip up to fight Jamie Ambler.

Tickets, priced £60, £40 and £30 can be purchased from the Coldwell Boxing website at coldwellboxing.com/events/new-kids-on-the-dock or from the boxers themselves. You can also watch on the Coldwell TV app. Visit coldwell.tv for more details.
