Former world champion Hernan Marquez continued his march towards another world title shot after dominating Colombian Carlos Tamara at the Estadio Sonora in Mexico.
The southpaw is on the comeback trail from a stoppage loss to Brian Viloria and set upon taking apart Tamara, who had previously scored a technical knockout win over the Hawaiian in 2010.
Marquez, 24, was never in danger throughout the contest and rightly picked up a landslide 120-107, 120-108 and 119-109 decision on the three judges scorecards.
Elsewhere is Ecatepec, Hugo Cazares continued his unbeaten run at super-bantamweight with a first round knockout victory over an out-of-depth Gabriel Altarejos at the Estadio Morelos.
The 35 year-old two-weight world champion had way too much for his opponent, who was participating in only his 15th pro outing and took him out with relative ease to push his record to 39-7-2 (27 KO’s).
