EXCLUSIVE: ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley unsure on Anthony Mundine option

The 41-year-old defeated Pablo Cesar Cano by deciding in Cancun following a year-long retirement from the sport, improving his record to 47 wins from 56 fights (with one no-contest).

Mosley, who originally came back at welterweight, has been offered the chance to fight Anthony Mundine at light-middleweight in the fall. However, the Californian intends to await the outcome of Paulie Malignaggi v Adrien Broner in three weeks before deciding on his next move.

“I am not sure (on the Mundine fight) as I have to weigh up my options,” Mosley exclusively told World Boxing News.

“If a title shot at 147 is in my near future, I don’t know which one I pick. It is a fight at 154 for a couple of million or another title on the main stage (at welterweight). If I could do both, it would be great.

“Right now, everybody in America is talking the winner of Paulie and Adrien Broner, being that Paulie almost lost to Cano, and I just beat him. We will have to wait and see what happens.”

The veteran is right back in the mix at 147 after gaining his first win in four years and, with his ties to Golden Boy, could well be one of those considered for the winner of the massive WBA title clash at Barclays Center on June 22.

Another possibility could be a fight with IBF belt holder Devon Alexander. However, ‘The Great’ has set his sights on facing former 140lb star Amir Khan, with Mosley definitely an option for either if negotiations fail.
