Three-weight world champion Miguel Cotto is no nearer naming his comeback date or opponent yet, according to attorney and advisor Gaby Penagaricano, amidst reports that the Puerto Rican legend will face Cornelius Bundrage.
The 32 year-old, who last fought in December losing to Austin Trout, has been slated by Boxrec as fighting the former IBF light-middleweight title holder at the Barclays Center on September 28, whilst other news outlets have ran with the story.
But Penagaricano was adamant that nothing has been done when contacted by WBN by saying: ‘It appears that Bundrage will not be Miguel’s opponent as nothing is set regarding opponents or date.”
He then went on to tell World Boxing News: “Reports that Bundrage is done are not true. What is true is that Miguel will fight in the fall, but nothing is set yet.”
Cotto has been linked to numerous foes for his next outing, including a rematch with Trout, and although ‘K9’ seemingly remains in the frame – an announcement on a deal is still up in the air.
