Narvaez gains undeserved home win over Orucuta

The wily veteran seemed have been edged out by the busier Mexican over the twelve rounds and although one of the three judges had the rightful winner, nobody would have expected 118-110 to Orucuta.

The other two scorers amazingly handed the bout to Narvaez 115-113 though to Orucuta’s astonishment sealing a seventh successful title defence for the Argentinian, but calls for a rematch were swift to surface at the end of the contest.

Orucuta, 27, lost for just the second time in his 29-fight, seven-year pro career, whilst 37 year-old Narvaez improved to 39-1-2, with his loss to Nonito Donaire in 2011 the only blemish.
