Pulev v Fury: EBU title purse bid delayed four days

The European Boxing Union have pushed back purse bids for a possible heavyweight title bout between Kubrat Pulev and Tyson Fury to June 1 from May 28.

The clash has long been in the making between the two unbeaten fighters and could potentially double up as an IBF championship eliminator if both parties can reach an arrangement before the beginning of next month.

EBU title holder Pulev was due to meet stablemate Robert Helenius in his mandatory defence, although the fact that both were signed to the Sauerland promotional banner ended the possibility of the contest going ahead.

Fury, 24, has now been pushed as the recognised contender to the blue belt and promoter Mick Hennessy may look to bring the fight to the UK or Irish shores if the 21-0 contender has any interest in contesting the title.
