Sek v Maccarinelli EU title bout heads to purse bids

The European Boxing Union have put out purse bids on a clash for their less prestigious EU light-heavyweight title on June 6th after Orial Kolaj was relieved of the title.

That decision leaves Poland’s Dariusz Sek and former WBO champion at cruiserweight Enzo Maccarinelli to possibly contest the newly-vacated title if the purse bids are successfully manoeuvred.

Sek, 26, has won nineteen and drawn one his twenty bouts so far, although is relatively unknown outside his native country, whilst veteran Maccarinelli is tried and tested – even though he is fairly new to the 175lb division.

The 32 year-old from Swansea is touted to be facing Ovill McKenzie in a rematch sometime over the summer, although the EBU’s decision could now change his plans as he looks for an all-Welsh battle with Nathan Cleverly.
