Solis dethrones Kono, Uchiyama retains in Japan

31 year-old Solis picked himself up off the canvas in second round to complete a majority decision victory with scores of 115-111, 114-112 and 113-113 to improve his record to 15-3-1.

Also on the card, long-standing super-featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama successfully defended his belt for the seventh time with an impressive stoppage win over Jaider Parra.

Uchiyama, 33, put the previously undefeated Venezuelan down in the fifth round before referee Pinit Prayadsab waved off the contest to hand the Kasukabe fighter a seventeeth career knockout from his 20th triumph.
