Juan Manuel Marquez rules out Asia as Manny Pacquiao switches dates

The 39-year-old is currently involved in a contract exchange with WBO welterweight title-holder Bradley for a high-profile bout at the Thomas and Mack Center, leaving Pacquiao to pick from recent rivals Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado for his next outing.

‘Dinamita’ has always declared his intent to stay away from another installment with the ‘Pacman’ and will instead stick to the possible pay-per-view sales that a US fight with Bradley may create.

Pacquiao’s return from the devastating knockout he suffered against Marquez, which was originally scheduled for September before being moved to October, has now been pushed back to November, most likely in Macau – meaning the Filipino will have been out of the ring for eleven months since the shock loss.

That won’t do the Congressman any good at all in the long run as the 34-year-old attempts to rebuild from the one-punch knockout and at this point, Alvarado seems to be the leading candidate to oppose Pacquiao after his revenge victory over Rios last month.

Meanwhile, the announcement of Marquez v Bradley is sure to cause a stir after Floyd Mayweather Jr. booked the same date at the back end of last year, leaving Top Rank and Golden Boy/Mayweather Promotions to go head-to-head if both are intent of keeping their dates.
